I take classes at my spiritual center. In part because I have a thirst for lifelong learning and personal development, and I am also on a journey to become a spiritual practitioner. Everything I learn there informs my life and my work in ways I’d never imagined up until now. There was a time when I thought living a kickass life was impossible. Who did I think I was to want this life? That was until I came to deeply understand that I’m possible. That my I Am-ness is my connection to the divine Presence that is all life. With God all things are possible and God is simply another word for Love.

With Love all things are possible.

It all begins with self-love. Since you and I are one with this divine presence that is all life, we are Love. What’s not to love about that? Love is right where we are in every moment. So, why are we beating ourselves up trying to be something we’re not…something that someone else wants us to be? Why do we care what our social structure tells us we should be, or what is possible or impossible for us? The very life within me and you is Love. The desire and inspiration emerging through us is possible. There is no special dispensation. Love doesn’t smile down on one person and not another. I’m possible. So are you.

Love yourself first and the rest will fall into place.

In meditation this morning, I began to think about how many things have gone right for me in life. It turns out, everything has gone right for me. Sure, there have been plenty of things that seemed to go wrong, yet even those turned out to be right in hindsight. This is the foundation of living a kickass life. To know that everything – EVERYTHING – is always working out for my highest good. I would not be who I am today living a kickass life if I hadn’t experienced everything I have up until now. There is also tremendous wisdom to be gained from all experience, especially those that feel difficult. I have never been more grateful for every moment of my life. I’m possible. You are possible too.

Your only limit is your mind

Living in the possible, exploring and expressing this inner potential can be uncomfortable. You have to go places and do things that you’ve never done before. It’s new and exciting and scary. This is why we turn back and continue to play small. We bump up against the edge of our comfort zone. Instead of acknowledging what we feel and moving past that edge, we avoid or retreat. We tell ourselves all sorts of stories about why we shouldn’t, we can’t, we don’t deserve. Oh, the lies we tell ourselves. Life is here to be lived and you, beloved, are life living itself. There’s no question, you are worthy and deserving of the life you want to live. You are designed for this. I’m possible. So are you.

One of my favorite songs is Impossible, from Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. I love these words to the chorus.

…THE WORLD IS FULL OF ZANIES AND FOOLS,
WHO DON’T BELIEVE IN SENSIBLE RULES,
AND WONT BELIEVE WHAT SENSIBLE PEOPLE SAY,

Following divine inspiration isn’t likely to look or feel sensible to anyone…not even you at times. Yet it will pester you like a little child. Tugging on your sleeve to be seen and heard. It will bubble up from within until you can no longer contain it. It will ask for your love, your attention, your devotion. Twenty-seven publishers rejected Theodore (Dr. Seuss) Geisel. Walt Disney was fired from the newspaper he worked for because he lacked imagination. J.K Rowling was a broke single mom on assistance before publishing the Harry Potter series. To name just a few of the daft and dewey eyed who stuck with their dreams. 

 You are free to fly!

Whatever it is you desire, it is possible. It’s possible to do work you love and be richly rewarded for it, even if someone tells you otherwise. It’s possible to love and accept yourself, to find new love, to have that adventure. You can achieve harmony in relationships where you once believed it impossible. It’s possible to change your mind, to dream a new dream and bring it to life. It’s not only possible, it’s necessary to life itself. I’m possible. So are you.

Today, I invite you to begin. Begin today. Just begin. Envision what the new job, the new project, the new experience, the new love, the renewed relationships look and feel like and then begin. Take one small, inspired step. Begin to be that version of yourself, to live from the feeling of your dream realized. I’m possible. The life I desire is possible. So are you. 

You simply need to begin

Know that your ‘I Am’ is unlimited potential in a Universe of infinite possibilities. Listen to the whisper of your soul and begin. Begin where you are, with what you have. Begin with fear. Begin with doubt and uncertainty. Begin even if you think you can’t. Begin even though you think you shouldn’t. Begin with trembling legs and sweaty palms. Breathe, be willing and begin. Life will show you the way.
