Connection As A Way Of Life

Often, I have no idea what I’m about to write in this weekly journal. Today, began especially slow. My body clock adjusting to the spring forward time change has me rising a bit later. A March snow storm blowing outside feels like a day off – a day to rest, read, relax. I’m becoming an expert in my own self-care, so I allow the slowness of the morning. A delicious detour. While sipping coffee, the idea of connection as a way of life comes to mind and this journal entry takes shape.

Today, I publicly open Awakening Women Worldwide, a global community for women. It’s a virtual sacred circle and I feel the power of this group already rising. It was a long journey here to connection as a way of life. It is a labor of love and a work in progress.

In Sacred Circles, Robin Deen Carnes and Sally Craig write, “Focusing on ourselves as divine beings, as part of creation, and as co-creators is incredibly uplifting to women and leads us not only to feel better about ourselves but also to become more assertive in our lives. For most of us it is a refreshing if somethings shocking contrast to the way we were raised to see ourselves.”

Connection as a way of life is an integral part of my own awakening.

It is in stark contrast to what my life once was, and yet I know it is divinely inspired. So, Awakening Women Worldwide is born.  An online global community. A safe and supportive place for women becoming aware of the divine spark to gather. A community of teachers and learners. A community of support, of love, to find joy in each other. It is a sacred circle of deep wisdom and experience, and creative intelligence and expression. It is also a place to come as you are, to lighten up, to play with ideas and discover yourself.

This is a spiritual group. Women’s circles are described in the Feminine Face of God (Sherry Anderson and Patricia Hopkins) as “containers of emergence.” Don’t you just love that. A place to be as you are, to reflect inward, to listening, learn, and become teachers for each other, and bear witness to and honor our own awakening, to the emergence of our divinity.

One of the first lessons is to honor yourself. Learning to love and accept ourselves completely, mind, body, and spirit. Think about it this way. If there is a God within each of us, and I know this to be true, then how could we not accept and love all that God is? To love ourselves, and each other, is to see the feminine face of God in all women, and men. In everyone.

So, dear spectacular divine awakening women,

I invite you to join me and thousands of other women gathering at Awakening Women Worldwide. Participate as much or as little as you choose. Some of us simply want to absorb the energy and turn inward to do our soul’s work, and others perhaps further along the path of acceptance have infinite wisdom to share and support to offer. We are social beings and connection matters. Who we connect with matters as well.

There’s a great Facebook video by Will Smith in which he talks about hanging with people who fan your flames, people who nourish and inspire you. Awakening Women Worldwide are women who seek connection in a community of women who nourish and inspire them, and who know they can nourish and inspire others as well.

“Women need a place to be and become. A place where there is nothing to prove. A place where things are quieter and where there is an opportunity to listen, to oneself and others, intently.” (Sacred Circles)
