Ordeal or Adventure of Living

I’ve seen it happen over and over again, with clients, friends and in my own life. An event takes place that disrupts the status quo and pushes us into making changes we might think we’re not ready for. A client who wanted to leave her job resisted her own desire was injured and never returned to that job. Someone else unexpectedly has to find a new location for their business as a result of the pandemic. We often feel like we are ‘going through hell’ at times like this, but what if the ordeal is all part of the adventure of living?

“The only difference between heaven and hell is believing a thought.” ~Byron Katie

Life is perpetual motion. Everything is always changing, including us. We are here to grow, evolve, change, experience new and wonderful things in life. It a great paradox in life that there is a divine urge within us to create and still we’re mostly afraid to follow those urgings. Life won’t let us stand still, so when we fail to move or change or grow on our own, life moves us along. It’s all part of this adventure of living.

We all get stuck from time to time…or maybe more often then we want to admit. I was in a job once that was very misaligned with my values. I had terrible headaches and eventually wound up in the emergency room for a possible heart attack. My heart knew exactly what I needed and wanted. My head wasn’t listening. Can you see how this manifested in my body? It wasn’t a heart attack and I’m truly grateful. Lesson learned. Life is always listening to our deepest desires and guiding us in that direction.

There are no mistakes, no coincidences. All events are blessings given to us to learn from. ~Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

You and I are here by divine appointment and everything in life is happening in divine order, right on time. This includes those things that seem disruptive to our lives…to our comfort. Right now we continue to navigate Covid19 and we are experiencing the world waking up to racial inequality on a massive scale. These are both global events that are shaping a new world. Disruptive? Yes, if you want to stay in your comfort zone. Necessary? Absolutely necessary for the evolution and good of humanity.

You have a choice in each and every moment

Life does not stand still and we are not meant to stand still either. However, when life pulls us out of our comfort zone we almost always think the worst. Right? Nevertheless, we have a choice to see things as tragedy or transformative, heaven or hell.

So, what if you imagine everything that happens is always serving the highest good for each and all, you included? You don’t have to like what’s happening, just look at it as part of the adventure of living. How might this shift your perspective from an ordeal to an experience on this adventure of living?

“Sometimes our only mode of transportation is a leap of faith.” Margaret Shepherd

What if you walked in faith knowing that new possibilities are emerging from what seems disruptive to your life? That this is the adventure, the learning, the living. What if you trusted your inner knowing that everything is always working out in perfect order for the highest good? What if this is how you and I begin to conduct our lives right now? From a place of loving this adventure of living?

“It’s impossible”, said pride.

“It’s risky”, said experience.

“It’s pointless”, said reason.

“Give it a try”, whispered the heart.
