Love Letter #161: Live is Not In A Hurry
Life is not in a hurry. You are. It’s why you’re stressed, anxious, and disappointed. The truth is, what is meant for you will be yours.
This is one of the hardest lessons I am learning.
Our spiritual growth expands in proportion to the amount of truth we can accept about ourselves. Not the falsehoods that we’re not enough or that we don’t have what it takes—these are judgments we’ve internalized from others. We are imperfect, yet limitless in what we can be and do. We reach greater heights when we allow ourselves to be imperfect and vulnerable.
How often, when starting something new, do you rush to master it? Yet, mastery only comes through the vulnerability of not doing it perfectly. Stress often stems from the belief that life itself is stressful. In reality, it’s our thoughts about any situation that creates the stress.
How often do you tell yourself you’re stressed, anxious, or disappointed? How about being overwhelmed? Why? These are not things you are, they are emotions that are felt.
All emotions are here as information to guide us. Yet we’ve learned to make them wrong, inappropriate, bad, or negative. There is no good or bad. They are all here to serve us.
In recent years, I’ve learned to acknowledge moments of anxiety without judgment. There are times when I sense this familiar uneasiness for a day or more. Instead of rejecting these feelings, I’ve started to view anxiety as a signal that change is on the horizon. When I resist or condemn these emotions they tend to intensify.
By accepting the anxiety and showing myself compassion during these transitional periods, I allow the shift to unfold naturally. Sometimes I can clearly observe this inner transformation, while other times it’s less obvious.
However, I’ve learned to have faith that it serves a purpose in my growth. I’ve had to learn not to be in a rush when I feel it. That doesn’t always happen as quickly as I would like. But slowing down, feeling what I feel, and turning towards the anxiety as a gift has made it much easier for me to navigate.
In the stillness of accepting our present circumstances, one can find peace that often eludes us when we’re caught in the hustle of daily life. By embracing the now, we begin to understand that everything is unfolding as it should. Patience with ourselves is a virtue and a path to inner tranquility.
Each flower blooms at its own pace. Comparing our journey with anyone else’s diminishes our unique path. What if we could appreciate the beauty in our own timing, and recognize that each delay, each perceived obstacle is a part of our growth?
I invite you to take a step back and allow yourself to see the bigger picture. The pressures we place on ourselves are often unnecessary and based on societal expectations rather than our true desires. When we slow down, we can hear our inner voice guiding us towards what truly matters.
When you find yourself rushing, take a deep breath. Notice what’s happening in your body. Remind yourself Life is not in a hurry, and there’s no reason for you to be either. Trust in the process and allow life to unfold naturally. In doing so, you’ll find a profound sense of peace and a deeper connection to the world around you.
With love,
I’m here to help you navigate life’s twists and turns with self-confidence, grace, and unabashed self-approval. Let’s connect and get to know one another.
