Love Letter #158: You Are Love: A Morning Ritual
Sitting here this morning, gazing at the altar, I watch the fog rolling in and the delicate dance of sage smoke swirling in the air. This is my morning ritual, a delightful reminder that I am One with the Divine, setting a bright intention for the day ahead. Once again, I embrace that I am the eyes, ears, voice, and Love of the Divine. Not separate from it, but the very essence that breathes life into me. I am a divine idea in the boundless Mind of the Infinite.
This is a far cry from what I was taught growing up. Back then, God was an overseer, ready to punish my missteps. But I’ve left that notion behind. The Divine doesn’t punish, judge, or control. We do that to ourselves by believing we are separate and disconnected.
In some cultures, there’s a god for everything – the garden, food, water, shelter, and more. I find this view wonderfully beautiful because it means everything is Divine. Every. Single. Thing. There’s nothing outside of it.
Each of us is a unique expression of this One Life Force. When we criticize or judge ourselves, we dishonor our true nature. We’re made in the image and likeness of the Divine, but that doesn’t mean we should all be the same. As we say in my faith practice, unity is not uniformity.
I believe the Divine delights in diversity. We’re all meant to be here, just as we are, beautifully and wonderfully imperfect. We’re here to experience each other, the unfolding of Life, and to create a richer experience for those who come after us. Maybe we even come back to do it all over again. Who knows? I’m open to that possibility.
What I want to tell you in this love letter is that you are Love itself. As Rumi wisely said, “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”
I often feel the contention between the ways I’ve learned to separate myself from others and my soul’s yearning to love freely and authentically. Maybe you feel it too. Our fear of hurt and rejection can lead us to push away what we most desire. These are the barriers to oneness and wholeness within ourselves and the world.
So, dear loving soul, if you do nothing else today (which is totally okay!!!), remember that you are LOVE. You are enough. There’s nothing to earn, nothing to prove. You, too, are the eyes, ears, voice, and Love of the Divine and you are in this world on purpose, with purpose. I believe that purpose is love. Love is all there is.
Let yourself be that love. Love yourself so fully that you naturally attract love in all its beautiful shapes and forms.
I’m here to help you navigate life’s journey’s twists and turns with self-confidence, grace, and unabashed self-approval. Let’s connect and get to know one another.
