Living Your Dream in Midlife

March is Women’s History month, but you knew that. I love learning about incredible women who, against tremendous odds, have and are changing the world. Women who believe in themselves. This has me thinking about the history you and I are living right now. We might not think of it as history, but it is. I wonder, what ‘herstory’ are you creating for yourself and those around you. Are you living your dream?

When you find the courage to change at Midlife, a miracle happens. Your character is opened, deepened, strengthened, softened…You are now prepared to create your legacy. ~Angeles Arrien

Does living your dream in midlife scare you?

Maybe it’s always scared you. Me too. There’s also a lot of popular thinking about being ‘over the hill’ once you reach a certain age. But, if you think you’re too old to follow your dreams in midlife, think again. Older and wiser can be freer and more exciting…you’re definitely more interesting than the younger you, and let’s face it…you’ve lived enough to know you won’t die trying something new. This is your life to live and you’re in charge of living your dream.

Get excited about your life again!

Set aside some time today. Go into your room. Close the door. Light a candle. Get quiet. Write yourself a letter. Tell yourself about your history…the amazing things you’ve done in life up until now. Write yourself as the ‘Shero’. How you’ve loved, lived, learned, evolved; what you’ve achieved and endured. How have you impacted the people and world around you? Make it a love letter to your magnificent self.

Allow yourself to bask in your own beautiful life. Then begin to write your future history…who are you becoming, what will you do, and how do you want to be remembered. Now, take one small step in becoming that future version of you, right now.

You are here for the adventure of living life as only you can and the greatest adventure you’ll ever undertake is to live your dreams.

“Confidence is 10 percent hard work and 90 percent delusion — just thinking foolishly that you will be able to do what you want to do.” ~Tina Fey

Sure, it might feel a bit foolish…but no more foolish than every women before you or after you who decided to live her dream. Are you living your dream?
